Specialized vs. generalist AI: Why purpose-built VoC wins

Specialized vs. generalist AI: Why purpose-built VoC wins

TLDR:

  • Revuze is functionally different from a generalist AI tool as it is built to be a business analyst, while AI is designed to be a creative assistant.
  • Revuze exceeds industry standards of data accuracy by meticulous design with CPG specific categories training the proprietary LLM, unique engines for sentiment and category, ability to evaluate texts in their natural language, video analysis and constant data updates to remain current.

Accurate data and insights you can trust: Why you need a specialized VoC platform

I asked AI to help me write about specialized vs generalist AI, asking what the difference is between regular AI tools and the Revuze tool, or any other tool of this nature.

And this is what it answered:

“Conversational AI tools are incredibly powerful. They can summarize articles, draft content, and help you brainstorm in ways we couldn’t have imagined a few years ago. But let’s be clear about their purpose. These tools are designed to be creative partners, not trusted analysts.”

Not trusted analysts, I thought…. Hmmm… why not? Yes, I know what we do at Revuze is proprietary and well trained, etc. But chat can’t analyze? Of course it can!

So, I asked Gemini – is that a true statement?  (I knew the Revuze tool was a trusted analyst – but I thought it was rude to say that the chats weren’t)

And here’s what it said:

“Yes, that statement is true. It highlights a fundamental difference between how general-purpose AI tools like ChatGPT are designed and how specialized analytical tools are built.

It then proceeded to give me a very long explanation on the difference between a creative partner and a specialized analytical AI tool, which I will spare you.

In short, it explained that general AI is designed to be a brilliant generalist which knows a little about everything and is great for exploration. A specialized analytical AI, on the other hand, is a seasoned specialist, which knows a lot about one thing and is built for deep, reliable insight.

So that is an overview of what Revuze offers that is different from AI.

But details matter and understanding the depth of the difference can highlight the extent of value you can gain from Revuze.

Extremely accurate data built into the architecture

If you were to walk through our company hallways, you’d hear a lot of talk about data integrity.

We design for it, because without accuracy, we can not provide true value to our customers. We provide business intelligence, in an atmosphere where speed is everything. What value would we provide to our customers if they could not stand behind the information they learned from the platform?

In order to achieve our industry-leading level of accuracy we pioneered several innovations:

1. Specialized category teaching, specific to CPGs

We begin with a proprietary foundational model, educated on massive, category-specific datasets to gain a deep, insightful understanding of brand categories, consumer opinion, and commerce. This specialization allows our model to understand nuance in a way a generalist simply cannot. This is completely contradictory to generalist tools or competitors using generalist models as the tools basis,  since their data is not vetted, curated, or tailored to your specific industry. Information is based on massive amounts of data, specific to this topic.

2. Data accuracy

The value of a marketing tool is the accuracy of its data. In addition to what we described above with regard to category training, we employ several other methods to ensure accurate data that can support business decisions. Most AI tools use a single model to perform every task, whether you ask it to analyze sentiment or identify topics. This leads to a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none scenario. At Revuze, we separate these functions entirely and built a proprietary tool for each function. Our topic identification engine is a unique, differentiated machine, separate from our sentiment analysis engine. While they work in tandem, each is a genius in its own field. They’re each trained and fine-tuned independently to achieve maximum accuracy in their specific task. Additionally, the Revuze engine does not translate foreign language texts and then try to understand sentiment. Instead, we extract meaning from the native language of a post or review to increase accuracy. These and other methods allow us to deliver over 90% precision in our analysis.

3. Constant updates for up to the minute knowledge

The internet is a constantly shifting landscape of trends, slang, and new products. The same is true for the language your customers use. An AI trained on static data will quickly become outdated. Our models are in a state of continuous evolution. We are constantly feeding new data, maintaining, and updating them to discover emerging topics and shifts in consumer sentiment. This ensures that the insights you receive are not only accurate but also relevant and real-time. We can tell you the moment a new trend, like “skinimalism” in beauty or “protein puffs” in snacks, begins to gain traction because we are constantly listening for new signals.

  1. Video analysis

So much of the information customers share with us is on video. Therefore, to have true perspective of the market, we needed to be able to draw meaning from as many types of sources as possible, and video was paramount. In order to truly understand meaning from video, Revuze can understand on screen text, as well as spoken word and will soon be expanding our reach.

6. Business confidentiality and security

The Revuze platform is robust, built with strong guardrails to protect your organisation’s confidentiality. Your queries and your proprietary data are rigorously secured.

  1. 7. Ease of use: designed to deliver insights intuitively

The UX of Revuze is built to ensure that insights and recommended actions are easy to see and intuitive, using charts, visuals and other elements.

The bottom line: purpose is everything

A general AI is a tool of creation. A specialized AI for Voice of Customer (VoC) is a tool for discovery. One is built for a conversation, and the other is built for analysis. When you use a tool like Revuze, you’re getting a strategic intelligence tool designed to find the truth within your customers’ voices.
